On June 17, the seminar “Developing eco-industrial parks, towards the goal of reducing net emissions to zero” was held by Mekong – ASEAN Magazine at Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park, Hai Phong.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Ms. Hoang Thuy Chung – Representative of Mekong ASEAN Magazine said, At the UN Climate Change Summit 2021 (COP26), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said. Vietnam is one of the countries most affected by the impacts of climate change. Vietnam has strongly committed with 150 countries around the world to bring net emissions to “zero” by 2050, reducing greenhouse gas methane emissions by 30% by 2030.

This is one of the contents specifying the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress and implementing the 10-year socio-economic development plan 2021-2030, the 5-year socio-economic development task 2021-2025; striving by 2030 Vietnam is a country with modern industry, high middle income and has a vision to become a developed and high-income country by 2045.

Shinec Representative – Mr. Pham Hong Diep – Chairman of Shinec Joint Stock Company (Investor of Nam Cau Kien Ecological Industrial Park) said that we want to cover the roof of the whole industrial park with electricity to move towards the zero carbon goal: “In Nam Cau Kien, we has built 3 models of industrial symbiosis system. The factories of enterprises in Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Italy, Singapore, Vietnam… are all linked together very harmoniously because of added value for benefits. We are looking to build more renewable energy systems to cover all roof electricity for use in the Industrial Park,” he added. , self-use and not put on the national grid”.

Representative of PC1 Group Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung – Green Energy Business Director said that in order to develop solar energy in general, it is necessary to encourage the Government. In 2020, regulations on project development and model power purchase agreements applied to solar power projects have created a big boost for this field, helping to raise social awareness about renewable energy.

However, according to Mr Viet Hung, anything that develops too quickly also has consequences. The overheating development of solar power has put pressure on the transmission system. Currently, EVN is temporarily not implementing the agreement to connect rooftop solar power systems to the grid while waiting for the Government to issue a mechanism and implementation guidance from the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

However, in the Master Plan VIII, the Government still encourages self-production and use. In fact, the role of renewable energy is increasingly important, especially after the COP26 commitment. This is also an attractive factor that Vietnam attracts investment interest from abroad. Mr. Hung cited the example that Lego Group invested more than 1 billion USD in building a new factory in Binh Duong. This is the first carbon neutral plant of this Group

The development also requires the participating units to find a smarter way. The problem with solar power is to use it up. Therefore, Mr. Hung believes that the small network model will be more optimal. Like industrial parks with their own power grid, they will be proactive in energy sources and self-allocate excess – lack of energy between units.

As a EPC contractor, with experience in operating power plants as well as consulting capacity in the industry, Mr. Hung said that PC1 is building a digital-based energy development model, helping investors For investment, businesses run out optimal scenarios for building optimal energy sources. This is also a strength for PC1 to further participate in the field of renewable energy.
