Dau Tieng Solar Power is Southeast Asia’s largest solar energy plant, located on semi-flooded terrain and beside the Dau Tieng lake in Vietnam’s Tay Ninh province.

An Overview of the Dau Tieng solar power plant project

The Dau Tieng Solar Power Plant, which launched construction in June 2018, was completed in March 2019. The project has a total capacity of 500 MW installed. The investor in the project is Power China Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited.

The project consists of three plants: Dau Tieng 1, Dau Tieng 2, and Dau Tieng 3, each of which has an installed capacity of 150 MW, 200 MW, and 150 MW.

PC1 is responsible for legal services, technical design, procurement, construction, development, production, installation, testing, operation, and COD for the power plant as part of this project.

Finance for projects

The project has a total investment of around VND 12,760 billion, and the land usage area is approximately 720 hectares, which is given to the industries in the following order:

The photovoltaic farm generates approximately 4.3 million kWh per day, providing approximately $400,000 in revenue (equivalent to VND 9.2 billion).

The Dau Tieng solar power plant design

The Dau Tieng solar power project is designed to integrate solar photovoltaic technology. PV panel ranges, inverter systems, monitoring and control systems, booster station systems, and transmission systems are the essential components. The distance between the rows of equipment, the angle and arrangement, and the direction of equipment installation are key attributes in the project design. These characteristics have been meticulously calculated in order to save money and increase production.

The plant has a scale of more than 1.3 million PV modules; 170,000 foundation piles; 600 kilometers of supporting steel structure; nearly 160  kilometers of cable and 2,000km of electric wire. Furthermore, 35,000 tons of galvanized steel are required to construct the steel structural system that will support the panels. The plant’s entire system will be connected to Dau Tieng Tay Ninh Energy Joint Stock Company’s 220 kV substation.

As a result, the project will generate approximately 14.9 TWh of solar energy over a 25-year period. This means it can generate 592300 MWh each year. This figure is sufficient to meet all of Tay Ninh City’s electrical needs.
